Potassium L-ascorbate monohydrate: a new metal–organic nonlinear optical crystal

Large size single crystals of potassium L-ascorbate monohydrate (KLAM), (KC6H7O6.H2O) are grown using solution growth technique by lowering the temperature at rate 0.24 {\deg}C/h, where water was used as solvent. The structure KLAM solved crystal XRD. crystallizes in non-centrosymmetric, monoclinic, P21 space group with lattice parameters a = 7.030(5) {\AA}, b 8.811(5) c 7.638(5) {\AA} and \b{eta} 114.891(5){\deg}. grows bulky morphology all three directions having (100), (-100), (-110), (0-1-1), (0-11), (001) (00-1) prominent faces. TGA DSC measurements show that is stable up to 80 {\deg}C. shows good optical transparency lower cut off low 297 nm. Second harmonic conversion efficiency measured on powder sample 3.5 times dihydrogen phosphate (KDP). Phase matching (PM) observed plate KLAM. Noncollinear phase rings also near PM which help identify locus directions. Presence noncollinear SHG third order suggests large birefringence nonlinear coefficients. Laser damage threshold value found be 3.07 GW/cm2, 1064 nm 100 direction.

A New Proposal for 4-to-2 Optical Encoder Using Nonlinear Photonic Crystal Ring Resonators

In this paper, we proposed an all optical 4-to-2 encoder that has 4 input and 3 output ports. This device generates a 2 bit binary code based on which input port is active. We used nonlinear photonic crystal ring resonators along with optical power splitter for realizing the proposed encoder.
